Most people are now aware of the necessity of preserving and protecting the environment to ensure our well-being and that of our children. Pollution reduction has become the top priority for governments and top corporations a like. That is why responsible companies such as Sico Paints are constantly striving to minimize the consequences of their activities.
A long-time leader in environmentally-friendly paints, Sico’s Design product line was recently entirely reformulated to contain zero VOCs (volatile organic compounds) to help improve the quality of air. This product line made up of Cashmere, Chamois, and Shantung is also endorsed by Green Seal – a leading international non-profit organization which validates environmental excellence.
“By selecting VOC-free paint, you will be making a more responsible choice,” said Dominique Pépin, Senior Brand Manager at Sico.
VOCs are organic solvents contained in paint. Growing concerns about VOCs are mainly related to emission problems. As paint dries after application, its solvents are released into the atmosphere. Since VOCs are precursors for smog they have been identified as pollutants.
“In the home, VOCs evaporate while paint is applied and drying, making them one of the pollutants affecting a home’s air quality as well,” Pépin explained. “So, consumers using Sico’s new paint will actually be improving the quality of air in their homes.” Since the paint is still a chemical product, however, she cautions that it must be used and disposed of safely.
Developed using Sico’s state-of-the-art paint technology, incorporating environmentally-friendly ingredients and sophisticated polymers, the new zero-VOC paints deliver outstanding performance, resistance and adhesion – product features which have until now been an industry challenge with low-VOC finishes, she said.
