Library to Stop Using Plastic Bags

The Vancouver Island Regional Library (VIRL) distributed about 60,000 plastic bags to customers last year. Starting this summer, the VIRL will no longer be supplying plastic shopping bags in it’s library branches. The library stated that concern for environmental issues were key to the decision. Customers are being urged to bring their own recycled bags, or they can purchase cloth book bags at the library.
