Simple Tips for Living Green
To live green means to do things that have less of a harmful impact on our planet for now and for future generations. It is a major concern for a lot of people but you should be happy to know there are easy ways to go about living green that do not require a lot of hard work.
The best way to move into green living is by taking baby steps. You do not need to go out right away and buy home made electic generators or solar power systems. You can do small things here and there and over time you will become a lot more “greener” of a person without having to make the change dramatically and quickly.
One easy and quick change is to look for carpool friends. I am not saying you should sell your car and you take the bus or train, although you should if you can. But if you still want to drive to work find a buddy who lives nearby and carpool together. If you can get your whole office to join in or at least most you are immediately reducing the number of cars on the road and the amount of pollutants going into the air. Not to mention all the gas you will al be saving.
How about light bulbs? Changing to a fluorescent bulb which puts out the same amount of light but lasts longer and uses less energy is another way to go green. No you do not have to replace all your bulbs now, but when one goes out instead of finding the regular replacement, look for the alternative. In the long run It will save you money on your electric bill.
There are also little things you can do around the house without having to change too much of a lifestyle. Check your windows and doors for any spots that are leaking air. Sealing those up will help to keep your house from working harder to warm up or cool itself down. How about with food? Keep the oven window clean and hit the light button to look at your food instead of opening the door. Every time you open the door the oven has to work harder to maintain the temperature it was at.
Last but not least begin to recycle. It is not hard to use a grocery bag to put plastic bottles and milk jugs in. Plus the bag itself is recyclable so when it is filled just grab another one. Instead of dropping things in the trash just have a small bin or bag next to it for convenience. These are tiny steps that wont change they way you life, but will help the environment and your wallet in the long run.
